You know what’s the worst? People that are in love with talking about themselves. I’m sitting in Starbucks right now studying… when two girls (obviously undergraduate students), come in and sit down on the couches next to me. Now I’ve no vices about people coming into coffee shops and talking. It’s not a library for goodness sake. Besides, I like a little bit of chatter noise in the background. It actually helps me focus on what I’m studying. But since they’re pretty close, I can hear their conversation. And sometimes, I really do wish that I had selective hearing, because I don’t want to hear the crap that people have to say sometimes. So anyway, one of the girls talks way more than the other (it always seems to be that way)… and she says, “you know, I really don’t want to study anymore. I feel like I don’t really have to. [laugher], I got the highest grade on the last test, a 98%, AND I got a 93% on the first exam, so I’m not really too worried.” Other girl says, “good for you” and tries to go back to studying. In my opinion, she is obviously annoyed by how proud of the other girl is of her test scores. I mean, what the hell does she want? A fucking gold star? You want a goddamn trophy? I despise it when people start boasting about what they got on an exam. It’s totally ridiculous and uncalled for. Anyhoo, no later than 3 minutes, the loud one heaves a huge sigh, and starts talking about her life and how she’s having troubles with some friend of hers. And literally, I think I’ve counted her saying “I” about 30 times in 5 minutes. It’s totally dumb. Get over yourself for fuck’s sake! While the other girl sits in silence except to say, “uh huh… Okay…. Sorry to hear that… Good for you!”
You know what I’d say? Go fuck yourself! Okay, no, you're right. I wouldn't say that. But I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking it....
