Summer Begins

Summer is upon me! So I've no excuse for not writing... other than the fact that I'm treating myself to being quite lazy. Finals have been done and over with for a little over 2 weeks now. I'm starting to feel the strain of doing nothing. Actually, it's only been about a week of me doing nothing... I went to Utica right after finals to do my food animal mentorship. I've still been out and about, doing things.. but I can feel that tugging... it starts to nag at me when I don't have a "job" to do. It's funny how people function no? When we're busy and stressed and pushed to the brink... all we can think about is relaxing. But when given nothing to do.. we eventually start to feel that something isn't quite right. It's just about finding that balance I suppose.. funny thing of life and people. I'm still glad for the summer though. I've started working on little projects. I picked up a pet perch that someone was giving away. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It's basically a giant white wooden 2-step set and the cats already love it to pieces of course. But the paint is chipping, so I went and got paint from Ace Hardware a couple of days ago. I'm going to repaint the base white and add red paw prints to the step... I think it will be cute. :)

Yesterday we went shopping for a sectional sofa. It's hard finding a good fit! We ended up ordering one from Ashley Furniture online. We went to their store, but they didn't carry what we wanted... so this will be delivered to our house late June...
Isn't it beautiful? I really love it. :) I'm buying the sofa for our house.. so technically, it's mine.. ALL MINE!! hehe. ;) The only downside is that we don't know what it feels like... but it essentially is all we want in a couch.. the back pillows are attached, the color is perfect for camaflouging various amounts of pet hair, it's got a contemporary look and it's got that lay away at the end... just perfect. I hope it feels as perfect as it looks. We've still got to buy a bed frame, build the inside of our walk-in closet and budget for building a fence for our backyard. Our backyard isn't very impressive, but I think will be something cute after we're done with it. Official move-in date is June 12th. Katie and Brittnay will be moving in August so Mike and I will have the house to ourselves for a little bit before we get roomies. I think for where I am right now in life, the idea of roomies is only going to add to it.

I just finished watching The Motorcycle Diaries tonight. It was a very touching movie. I really enjoyed it. And Gael Garcia Bernal (the guy who plays Ernesto "Che" Guevara aka Fuser) is just beautiful in this movie.
Can't deny it.. totally gorgeous. Aside from that, the movie was truly wonderful. It's something that is heart-wrenching and uplifting at the same time. I wouldn't say that it's a very "happy" movie. It has a somber mood to it, but it's an eye-opening surprise... really wonderful and something that can be felt with the heart.

I think I'll end with that note for the night. "You gotta fight for every breath and tell death to go to hell."
