Hey! I'm on Vaycay!

The dust has finally settled from finals. I AM DONE! Seems silly to be saying that all excited like when I finished like a week ago... but that's how draining it has all been. My brain is so exhausted that it takes weeks following the aftermath of finals for it to resume normal activity. How scary is that? I should have figured that out when I signed up for vet school! Anyway.. I think we actually lost quite a few people to a horrid class called Pharmacology this semester. Mind you, most vet schools have pharm over 2 semesters at the least, but we have it over 1. I am inclined to believe that we are the ONLY vet school that has it over 1 semester. Our curriculum is changing so that it's now offered over 3 semesters, but geez.. it sure did take Kansas a while to get with the program. But that's how everything is Kansas goes.. it's quite the conservative state. Anyway, I think it's about time they changed the program. It needed it. I just feel bad for some of the people that we've lost. I will miss some of them greatly! Others not so much... but there are definitely a couple that I am very sad to loose. In any case, it sucks and it's not right that our program has a 1 semester crash course in pharm. It literally is a crash course in pharmacology. On top of that, we're not even allowed to ask any questions to the professors during the pharm exams. This isn't some standard policy that's applied to all of our classes. It's a policy they decided to put on us in the middle of the semester of pharm. Which, if you are borderline, could make things very confusing and stressful. It's almost as if they WANT to fail an average of 8-10 people every year. I'm starting to believe it's a ploy just to make more $$$$$. After all, as an out of state student, I am paying around $40,000 in tuition/year. Multiply that by 8 and that's a hefty little lump for the school.

Anyway.. I spent my Christmas here in Kansas this year with Mike. It was also his birfday on the 24th! I got him a beer making kit... so now he can brew his very own beer....

I fly out tomorrow.. so I guess I should be packin'... Ciao for now..
